junclassic

Born and raised in Southside Jamaica, Queens, jun first made noise in hip-hop as Gabarah with the Monsta Island Czars.  He later launched a prolific solo career as junclassic, the catalog features collaborations with Jazz Spastiks, Giallo Point, SQ, and Wun Two, including a celebrated release through Chopped Herring Records.

Now, with Music to my Eyes, jun arrives at Uncommon Records carrying years of lived experience.  His raspy voice is filled with the depth of emotion and desire that can only be found by truly living life fully.  Caregiver, social worker, artist, and survivor, jun speaks to the weight of burnout, struggle, and resilience in a way few rappers dare. The record lands as a highly conceptual, imaginative and disturbing collection of images

Produced entirely by Uncommon Nasa, whose recent full length credits include Guilty Simpson’s Escalation and Pastense’s Sidewalk Chalk, Parade Day Rain, Music to My Eyes brings together two of NYC’s most steadfast indie innovators. Nasa’s dense, cinematic soundscapes lock in perfectly with jun’s unfiltered truths, amplifying each song into something larger than the sum of its parts.

This collaboration lands exactly when it’s needed most. It’s not just another rap record; it’s a testament to survival, artistry, and the urgency of expression in a collapsing America. For listeners, Music to My Eyes is both a warning flare and a reminder... Hip Hop is still a weapon, a mirror, and a lifeline.
